Salim Mansur, Political Science Professor at University of Western Ontario, Senior Fellow of the Canadian Coalition for Democracies, Columnist for the Toronto Sun, deserves more than just an Order of Canada.
Islamic organizations and supposedly besmirched individuals have tried to remove him from the university. I am surprised that the Human Rights Commissions have not harassed him with complaints like they did with Mark Steyn, Ezra Levant, publisher/editor of Maclean’s magazine, since he speaks boldly and writes exquisitely about the Middle East, the lack of modernity of the Muslims, Arabs, Persians, Africans, Pakistanis, including a spiritual make-over of Islam.
Moreover, he honours Jews and Israel frequently, such as in this particular piece in the Saturday Sun.
“Israel deserves admiration” by Salim Mansur
The 60th anniversary of Israel's birth is a milestone as was every other such anniversary going back to that defining moment for Jews and non-Jews alike when David Ben-Gurion proclaimed independence of the Jewish state in Tel Aviv on May 14, 1948.
After nearly two millenniums of wandering in strange lands -- following destruction of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem by the Romans and forced exile from the land of their prophets -- the birth of Israel has offered Jews a secure home where they may prosper without any fear or apology…

Israel is a tiny sliver of land in a vast tempest-ridden sea of the Arab-Muslim world, and yet it is here the ancient world's most enduring story is made fresh again by Jews to live God's covenant with Abraham as told in their sacred literature.
Jewish survival as a people maybe providential, but turning a desert into one of the rich economies of the world few imagined six decades ago is a minor proof of how much more could be achieved if those fighting Jews joined with them instead by turning their swords into plowshares.
Happy anniversary, Israel.
Hezbollah and the Syrians backed by Iran are at it again in Lebanon. And, bombs fly from Gaza. Will the rest of world accept that we are in a Global War brought on my Muslim Jihadists. Christians and seculars die but it’s Israel’s fault because they continue to oppress Palestinians. What a lame excuse. Caroline Glick states in her book Shackled Warrior, “It is clear that the Iranians are the most dangerous part of the three-headed jihadist hydra. Like the Arab despots the Europeans are provoked by cynicism while the Arab dictatorships embrace jihad to safeguard their regimes, the Europeans support the jihadists in the hope that their support will deflect jihadist violence away from them."
“Gaza says it all” by Michael Coren “It’s an icon 0f failure to achieve peace in the Middle East”
